Glass King

Here within these castle walls
My love is still with you
Watching all the lands below
These stones are always true

Oooo don't give it away no no no no
Oooo don't give it away no no no no no no no no

Caught inside this rising tide
Of the drifting desert sand
Sky grows mean, it's full of fire
Its thunder has demands

Oooo don't give it away no no no no
Oooo don't give it away no no no no no no no no

Trapped within these castle walls
My heart is still with you
Looking over all below
Your words are coming true

Oooo don't give it away no no no no
Oooo don't give it away no no no no no no no no

As the walls begin to fall
It's not my kingdom anymore
It belongs to me but I, I belong to her

She looks through me when she pleases
Breaks me in a million pieces

As the rain begins to fall
I hear the knocking at the door
She belongs to me but I, I belong to her
She looks through me when she pleases
Breaks me in a million pieces

Oh oh I'm the glass king
Oh oh I'm the glass king
Oh oh I'm the glass king
Oh oh I'm the glass king

Dewey Bunnell: “I wrote the bulk of the lyrics. Ryan came in and said "Who's got a title?" I showed him a list of mine... He picked "Glass King" and we discussed a lyrical theme. I began jotting down words while he started bashing out a chord progression. Gerry, Adam and James made suggestions... I sang the lyric to a melody that seemed to work, overdubs were added, and by the end of the day we had recorded the song. Adam had a job to do mixing/editing it into a more traditional structure later on (I think he and James discussed together how to approach the rough recording). It was an unusual day for me....”
