Front cover of the concert program. The photos below
came from that program.

Special thanks to Bill Payne for making the photos available.
Bill found the program in the bargain bin at Hogans Music store
in Lake Elsinore. It's too bad he didn't get to attend this
1983 concert at Irvine Meadows which is located in Orange County.
Following are some interesting tidbits that Bill had to share.
In June of 1983 when America played the
Irvine Meadows show this is what was going on in the music industry:
-
Joan Jett became Irving Azoff's first signing at MCA
-
Stevie Ray Vaughn quit David Bowie's world tour before the first concert
date due to a salary dispute
-
Brian Wilson's ex-wife Marilyn has a band called "The Honeys" and they
release their first album entitled "Ecstasy"
-
The band "Missing Persons" are planning on a September release of their
second Capital Album
-
New heavy metal band "Sound Barrier" threatens to capture audiences of
Judas Priest and the Scorpions
-
"Prince's" 1999 album is certified platinum
-
The "Talking Heads" have a new album "Speaking in Tongues"
-
Waylon Jennings is planning a tour with Jerry Reed sponsored by "Maxwell
Coffee"
-
"Sting" is being sued for divorce by his wife for $8 million
-
"Marvin Aday" of "Meat Loaf" filed for bankruptcy with debts in excess of
$1.6 million dollars
-
"Tony Banks of "Genesis" releases a second solo album called "The Fugitive"
-
MTV videos include videos by Berlin, Quiet Riot, and the Bangles
What is amazing is that America continues to tour to this day
and continues to record great music. "Long Live America!!!!"
