Norman I miss your style
(And) it's been a long, long while
Funny how people forget
I won't let them Norman
You know that I'd sail a ship 'round the oceans if it had your name on it
And I've never sailed a ship before
Norman it's raining here
But soon the skies will clear
Leaving you nothing to fear
Halleluiah Norman
You know that I'd sail a ship 'round the oceans if it had your name on it
And I've never sailed before
(And) I'd fly a plane through the heavens if it had your name on it
And I've never flown a plane before
... Halleluiah Norman!
You know that I'd sail a ship 'round the oceans if it had your name on it
And I've never sailed before
(And) I'd fly a plane through the heavens if it had your name on it
And I've never flown a plane before
Norman...
Won't you listen to the silent roar
Norman...
There's a midnight soaring
Norman...
There's an open door
Norman
Yeah yeah yeah
This is a song that Gerry wrote about an industrial designer, stage decorator,
and all around creative genius who influenced lots of today's designs, but is
largely forgotten. Norman Bel Geddes was his name. The song was played live
in concert but was never released because Gerry didn't feel that it was
finished. In 2002 Gerry fine-tuned the lyrics and gave the song to
Jeff Larson to include on his CD. Gerry played piano and sang background vocals
on the song and helped produce it along with Hank Linderman.
