Who Loves You
Written by Gerry Beckley, ©1976
Found on Hideaway and Highway.

Love is falling on me
Time will tell how much you mean to me
Can't stop looking in your eyes
Count the stars hiding up in the sky

Look who loves you when you're feelin' down
Just like you're the only one around
Look who loves you when you're feelin' down

Somewhere peace will be found
Past the clouds or somewhere near the ground
Who knows, who really cares?
Take your time as we both climb the stairs

Well, who cares if I live or die
Somebody's always asking why
Who loves you when you're feelin' down

Who's gonna trust you now, boy?
Who's gonna trust you now, boy?
Who's gonna trust you now, boy?
Who's gonna trust you now, boy?

Look who loves you when you're feelin' down
Just like you're the only one around
Look who loves you when you're feelin' down
Just like you're the only one around
Look who loves you when you're feelin' down
Just like you're the only one around
Look who loves you when you're feelin' down
Just like you're the only one around ...

Highway Highlight (from the box set booklet)
In his ongoing quest to write the perfect pop-rock ballad, Beckley contributed "Who Loves You" to Hideway. The tune, represented here in demo form, is a fine example of his advancing craft. Gerry: "I was messing with chords that I hadn't used before, and as I was moving my hand around flatting fives and things, it was all quite interesting to me, and a bit challenging. I don't think I really succeeded, but it was a new area, musically. And, again, it was one of those where I said, 'Now what do you do? Well, let's do the verse again and let George write something.' [Lyrically, it's] probably the darker side of romantic sentiment."
