Simple Life

Hearts (Japanese import CD only) and
Highway.
Life today is frittered away
You've got to simplify
Each in our own way, we live for today
And never know why
To stand in the road
And feel the wind blow
Across the sands of time
'Cause that's the simple life
You know I'd like to make it mine
Take your cars and your bars
And trade 'em all in for a nice wood fire
At the end of the day I know you will say
You couldn't get much higher
To stand in the road
And feel the wind blow
Across the sands of time
'Cause that's the simple life
You know I'd like to make it mine
To stand in the road
And feel the wind blow
Across the sands of time
'Cause that's the simple life
You know I'd like to make it mine
You know I'd like to make it mine
You know I'd like to make it mine
This song was written as a blue jean commercial in Japan starring Peter
Fonda and for that reason it was included on the Japanese release of Hearts.
It was also released on several 45 singles in Japan.

Meanwhile, the band recorded "Simple Life," a song that came about when the
Simple Life clothing company, a Japanese organization, had approached them
about a jingle to be used in a television commercial in Japan. Inspired by
Peek's wife and Henry David Thoreau, the song was produced by the band and
ended up as background music for the commercial (which featured Peter Fonda
on a sailboat).
