Terry Knight

Meet Terry Knight from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I've been a fan of "America" for many years. Their songs have always had a place in time. It hasn't mattered to the true fans what type of music was popular at the time. "America" talent never runs dry. The depth of fans won't either. I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet Gerry and Dewey three times. The first time was after a concert in '91 at Myrtle Beach. The concert was in a club and the atmosphere was wonderful and of course the performance was amazing. They were so gracious and down to earth after and we were able to get their autographs at the time. The second time for me was yesterday afternoon at an art museum before their concert in Knoxville Tenn. My husband Joe has been an avid fan of America since the beginning and he has all of their music. Gerry and Dewey were there at the museum and my husband spotted Gerry first. We said our hellos and went on through the museum. We didn't want to be a pest and wouldn't you know, Gerry came over to us and started a conversation with us and talked to us for quite a while. He is a wonderful person and very sweet and gracious. At the concert I waved to Gerry as I took pictures of the group. Dewey smiled and even backed up and smiled so I could get a good picture. The performance was magnificent. We sang along to all of the songs, even the lyrics of the Human Nature songs performed. They sang three selections from Human Nature. The three were Pages, From a Moving Train and Wheels Are Turning. The Nelsons opened for America and came back to sing Horse With No Name together and it was really great. Gerry recognized me as I was taking pictures and later, as leaving the stage, Gerry waved and pointed to me and smiled. It was a thrill. Later at their hotel, Gerry was in the bar drinking a soft drink and my husband and I talked with Gerry for a while. My husband took a picture of me and Gerry. Gerry was very gracious and down to earth and easy going. He autographed my Human Nature CD that I had in my car and the program from the concert and I even got a hug from him as well. No greater group and talent has ever been and even though they are famous and have traveled the world over surely many times they are such nice guys and always take into consideration their many fans. Their next concert close to where I am will be in Virginia in Sept. 99. And, of course, my husband and I will be there. Gerry asked if I ever accessed the Internet and if so to be sure and let all of their fans know that we saw them and that how much they appreciate everyone and wanted me to say hello for them. They really love their fans. So from Gerry to me to you: "Hello everyone and keep listening." What a great group! Here are a few photos from the Knoxville concert on May 20, 1999. Feel free to send your comments or questions to Terry. |
