Andreas Burkert

Andreas with Dewey and Gerry after the Blue Ash, Ohio concert in 2007.

Meet Andreas Burkert formerly from Detmold, Germany but now living in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1977, one of my brothers decided to buy a guitar for me as a Christmas present because he played and he wanted to give me lessons. The first 2 chords he taught me (and it was a complete song), were for "A Horse with no name". From that day on I wanted to know more about that group and I bought their records. AMERICA became MY favorite band forever at that time and, of course, today I listen to AMERICA's Music.

It took me 18 years to see them live on stage in Hamburg, Germany (January 31, 1995), then in the Summer of '95 in Hamm, Germany. In Hamburg I got to talk to Dewey after the concert and in Hamm I had a long conversation with Willie.

Today I am 34 years old, it is as unbelieveable as in 1995 when I met them, because the music and the guys followed my entire life. And it is like 1977 when I am playing the music today. In summertime, when I am sitting in my car and playing the old songs, I feel like I'm driving over the Highway in L.A. Sometimes I am in L.A. (because I have relatives there) and I would like to meet them there. (Every one I meet is from California).............

On the picture above you see my 4 year old boy. He grew up with the "HOURGLASS" Album. When he was 2 years old he could sing "Young Moon".

In June of 2007 I moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and I got to see America and Chicago in concert. Unfortunately, the pictures I took didn't turn out. I saw them again in Blue Ash, Ohio on August 26, 2007 and did get a picture there (see above). I now have a new e-mail address which has been updated on the link below.

Feel free to send your comments or questions to Andreas.
