Ray Quinn

Meet Ray Quinn from Hobart, Tasmania.

I grew up in the 60's and was (and am!) a great fan of The Beatles. This led to all sorts of other musical directions in melodic rock-e.g. Raspberries, Badfinger, Emitt Rhodes, etc. etc.. So I guess it was inevitable that America would cross my path somewhere along the line. I've always been a fan - but it's only in the last few years that I've taken a greater interest - probably because everything I heard was so good! This led to me tracking down various later albums, plus the original America albums. Great songs, beautiful production, lovely guitars and harmonies - what more could you want? The band came here to Hobart (Tasmania) in 1998 and it was so great to see them! Last year, for my 50th birthday, I treated myself to a copy of the boxed CD set. I enjoyed reading about the songs and their creation. It seems that "the boys" (ha!) are really nice fellows who don't seem affected by their huge success. I must tell you I recently decided to really figure out the intro to Ventura Highway on my guitar. Great fun!

Keep up the great work fellas - and come back to Australia sometime - and don't forget Tasmania - the island state under 'Down Under"!

Feel free to send your comments or questions to Ray.
