Colleen Casey

Meet Colleen Casey from Vancouver, Washington.

My husband (who is also an America convert), my daughter, and I just relocated back to the Pacific NW from the Bay Area. I am a video producer/editor, and have been an America fan since the first time I heard "Sister Golden Hair", I think I was 14 and thought, (and still do) that Gerry has the most incredible voice, but let me digress...

I met the Guys first in 86. I was working with the PR rep for a small venue called "the Gorge" (now it's Huge) in Washington state. The venue is outdoors, overlooking the Columbia River and I remember how impressed they were with it. In fact their road manager Scotty decided to "golf" off the edge (I have photos..) and hackysack was a popular time-passer. It was a gorgeous day. Dewey, his mom, and other relatives were visiting. The crowd was terrific and the band seemed in high spirits. I had the chance to visit with all of them that evening, chatting in a tiny trailer we had for a green room. The following evening, in Seattle, I took a friend to see them and ended up goofing off backstage and going out for drinks later. These guys have some very quick wits. Michael Woods, in particular, I remember just breaking me up. And Gerry was very funny when not having to be "ring master". They were, without exception, charming, funny and polite, which (I have worked with enough rock musicians to say) is a welcome treat, particularly for a woman in this business.

I continue to follow their music, and have gone to many of their shows. In fact the last one I went to may have contributed to my daughter arriving a bit early. I guess she liked the music!

I found that my daughter, while an infant and in the throes of colic, (boy what fun...) would relax and "listen" to America discs! Hourglass, in particular. Maybe it's the harmonies??? Hmmm, maybe they could market it!

Feel free to send your comments or questions to Colleen.
