Elaine Gasparini

Meet Elaine Gasparini from Tottenham, Ontario, Canada.

I have been a fan of America's since the first chords of "Horse" reached my ears. I was about 13 (I am now 41 - yikes! and a mother of 2). My sister and brother-in-law had an excellent farm house in rural Ontario, Canada. My sister and my brother-in-law would pick my girl friend Cathy and I up on a Friday after school and we'd spend the weekend with them. The "music room" Dave (my brother-in-law) created upstairs was amazing. Speakers, guitars, drums and lights of all sorts. We'd lie on the cushions, the spots dimmed, the speakers cranked, a sweet smell in the air... and we were transported to another world. That album - and the ones to follow, the times at the farm, all contributed to the wonderful memories I have of my "coming of age".

I have seen America in concert everytime they play the Toronto area (the last over 4 years ago?) when one of our dreams came true - my girlfriend Cathy and I had the privilege to meet them afterwards. Very warm and friendly - exactly as we'd always thought they'd be. We had a wonderful conversation with Willie (thanks again for the drinks! Oh yeah! Congratulations!). It was truly a highlight of our lives!

I have been reading through various entries and I just realized how good I feel, and what a wonderful legacy these guys have created. The common feeling in everything I've read so far is what wonderful memories everyone has that is directly linked back to a particular song or moment in their lives that America was/is a part of. Amazing.

I thank you all for the memories, here's to many more!

Feel free to send your comments or questions to Elaine.
